Hi, my name is Martine. I’m an international public health consultant, world traveller and citizen of the world. This blog is for those interested in living well and passionately by way of cultural exploration and exploring the fine art of living. My writings reflect how I create a healthy globally inspired environment at home as I aspire to raise happy and healthy petit citizen of the world. To reach my aspirations, I know that the journey starts with me. My goal is not only to live a happy, healthy and well balanced life, but also to thrive!
You will see that my way to thrive is to explore the fine art of living an international life. I bring the world home through global cuisine, languages, music, books, art, travel, culture, and more from around the world. I write about how I think, eat and live—recipes I share are all vegetarian. Some are vegan and/or gluten-free. I consider myself a bon vivant and believe in enjoying life as the French do. Occasionally, you will see posts on decadent desserts, good wine, and high quality chocolate. The key to enjoying such pleasures without guilt, and remaining healthy, is temperance. I don’t prepare or eat such pleasures everyday!
Here, I share my cultural adventures in the kitchen, at home, in the community and abroad. I hope you enjoy being part of the Petit World Citizen community. I look forward to hearing your comments and views as we embark on this exciting journey of life exploration through the lens of global culture. I also hope your visit here inspires you to live globally, wherever your life journey takes you. To receive updates on recipes, travel and tips on thriving, please subscribe to this blog.

Merci Audrey pour tes beaux mots et ton soutien. J’ai l’intention de diversifier le blog dans un avenir prochain en rajoutant des rubriques sur plusieurs nouveaux sujets. À bientôt, Martine
I love your blog and am looking forward to going through all of your recipes. It is an inspiring website! 🙂 What type of work do you do in the public health sector? I can see that your healthy lifestyle and international work is reflected in your cuisine. Have a great day, Martine. – Shanna
Shanna, Thank you for your very kind words! I’m so happy to know that you like my blog. I really like yours too! My work is in global health so I’ve had to work on a variety of issues (maternal and child health and child survival to poverty reduction, agriculture, women’s empowerment through literacy, etc.) in the developing world and a lot of strategic planning, business development, and public health campaigns for non-governmental organizations in the U.S. As a mom, I now try to incorporate my love of world cultures to my cooking and lifestyle, especially so my son grows up feeling it a natural part of his world. I’m trying…. 🙂 Looking forward to getting to know you through your blog!
Martine, Your work in global health sounds quite diverse – you have done many things! Your passion and love for people, culture and food is clearly translated on your blog. I, too, look forward to learning more about your love of life – and global citizenship – through your blog. Your son is one lucky little guy – he has a great mom – and she sure can cook! 🙂 Have a lovely Wednesday, Martine. – Shanna
Shanna,

Hi Shanna, Thanksgiving went well. Lots of cooking and baking! My fingers/hands look as if I’ve been working in a garden…. Will post pictures this week. How was yours? BTW, did you get the email I sent about California (San Luis Obispo)? Hae a great week!. –Martine
Hi, Martine,
I have been very eagerly anticipating an email… 🙂
Did you get my response about Loma Linda, etc.? And you replied to that? I can resend, if necessary. Anyway, I am so happy that we can be in correspondence now. You are a kindred spirit in many ways.
Have a great week. You are a busy, busy Femme Fabuleux.
Warmly,

Hi Shanna, Merci! 🙂 I had sent you just one email, it was in response to your question posed here (on the web) about where in California I’d live given the opportunity to choose a locale. Hmm, I haven’t received any emails from you. I just checked my junk mail but it hasn’t landed there either. I think you’ll have to try resending. I’ll send you a test email now. ~ Martine

Bonjour Martine,
Yes, I agree, being a mother is the best work in the world! I look forward to connecting with you via our blogs!
Bonjour Darya! Thank you so much for your kind words! I just had a peek at your site. Your so talented to not only cook fabulous foods, but also write your text in both French and English!!!! I’m glad also to have found your blog via Fae’s post today. I look forward to following you and trying your recipes!
Hi Martine, I am very happy to have discovered your beautiful blog today. Your recipes and photography are inspiring! I especially love your baking recipes (my weakness, I’m afraid) and am amazed at how you manage to make most things so healthy. I look forward to trying out those buckwheat chocolate cardamom cookies!
Hi Chez! Welcome and thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you enjoy the cardamom cookies. I’m planning to make them with my son this week. I love baking too. Most times I try to post “healthy” baked goods/desserts, but sometimes, I must admit, they’re simply just decadent. 😉 I try to follow the 80/20 rule: eat healthy 80% or more of the time so you can enjoy, guilt free, the other stuff 10-20% of the time. 🙂 And, for that 10-20%, use only fresh and/or organic ingredients. Thanks again for your lovely comment.
